Carrie's Bed in Sex in The City II

Did you see Sex In the City II this past weekend? We thought it wasn't as bad as the reviews said it was... Seriously, don't you think the critics take this movie a bit too literally?  After all, the movie is all about the clothes and the fantasies...

Anyway, did you like the bed in Carrie's and Big's apartment? We do. And we know exactly where to get it too.

The bed is made by Vanguard Furniture and you can see it here (it is shown as tufted but it's an optional feature.  You can get it untufted plain as shown in the movie.  The nail heads can be changed to polished nickel  as well).

The fabric, which is what made the bed, is by Kravet Couture and it's called Velvet Gate, pattern number 29868.  Shown in the movie in black/white, it is also available in other colorways. The fabric is a linen/velvet combination. Very, very pretty in person.  You'd love it.

The fabric is priced at $149/yard but you can get it for $104/yard at the Kravet fabric section on our site. Enter the pattern number "29868" (the quotation marks is recommended for precise search) and you can see all the colorways available.

Celebrity Home Envy: Ashley Tisdale

Check out June's Instyle for a peek into the home of Ashley Tisdale. A pool cabana, pink velvet, mirrored furniture, linen drapes and.... a Louis Vuitton trunk cocktail table in the living room? I'm in LOVE! The best part is that she designed her first home herself.

The size is 37rd x 64h and the price is $5750 including shipping, a little expensive, perhaps, but oh it's so worth it.

This will be posted on our Currey Chandeliers section soon so please check back for more info.

Summer is in the air. Enjoy these pics from this month's issue of Veranda.

I love these wicker chairs next to the rough table.
Loving the roman shades and the burlap bag planter here.

Slipcovers on the porch. Brilliant!

Austin Artist: Kyle Bunting Collection at Gump's

I love to read success stories about local Austin artisans. Kyle Bunting is everywhere these days. I first heard about him from Karen Hall Designs. A couple of weeks ago, my sister pointed out one of his hide rugs featured in an Austonian show house living room.

Now, San Francisco design shop Gump’s will be offering an exclusive limited edition collection of furniture and art from the renowned Austin-based designer Kyle Bunting.

Bunting, who made his name with collaborative collections of cowhide rugs, wallcoverings, and upholstery created a series of screens, ottomans, and tables available in unlimited pattern and color variations for his Gump’s collection. Gump’s will also be featuring a group of six four-by-five foot hanging art pieces made of highly detailed cowhide by Bunting and his team.

Nice Bedroom Decorating for Girls 2010

INice Bedroom Decorating for Girls 2010: Here on Freshome you’ve seen a lot of themed bedrooms for kids. It is true, fairy tales, castles and princesses provide a wide range of ideas for bedrooms, but today, we would like to show you something new: hearts. You’ve seen them drawn on every teenager’s diary, piece of paper or bumper sticker. And it’s a known fact: young ladies love hearts. Which is why these six bedrooms below all feature heart themed furniture. The colors are also typical for teen girls (pink, light green, yellow, red, baby blue). Chairs, pillows, bed covers, nothing escaped the mighty heart-shaped plan. Some of these interiors are a bit too crowded for our tastes, but then again, it is not us who the manufacturers target.

Home design 2010: 10 ways to redecorate with paint

Define a display space

Home design 2010: 10 ways to redecorate with paint: Paint shelves and the wall behind them an eye-catching color to showcase books and accessories.

Here, a warm pumpkin shade complements an eclectic collection of books and objects.

Personalize a nook

Hot pink walls and a stenciled motto punch up this tiny eating area. Painting the woodwork a bright white keeps the look crisp, not cloying.

"Resize" a space

Painting this patio overhang a sunny yellow not only draws attention to the architectural feature, it also makes the space feel more intimate.

Use other warm hues (reds, pinks, and oranges) for a similar effect , and cool colors (blues, greens, and purples) to visually enlarge a room.

Showcase a feature

A brick-red island is the star of this kitchen. For a sophisticated look, pair one colorful object with neutral tones. Here, dark-wood surfaces and stainless steel appliances do the trick.

Refresh old furniture

Update an antique hutch or built-in buffet with a fresh coat of paint and a pretty fabric skirt.

To create a backdrop for light-colored china and collectibles, paint the back of the cabinet a darker color than the frame. We love Benjamin Moore’s Tropicana Cabana (2048-50).

Highlight the unexpected

A dose of lime green freshens the breakfast bar, shows off the shapely bar stools, and links to green walls and cabinets elsewhere in the kitchen.

Add architectural interest

Rev up style in a white-box room with a stripe of painted color. Here, a wide pewter gray line mimics the look of molding.

Add a touch of whimsy

Playful vertical stripes add personality and emphasize the height of these cabinets, which serve as a room divider.

Play against type

Inexpensive pegboard and paint become instant artwork when paired with a collection of tools.

We love the yin and yang of this girly bubblegum shade and rustic hardware.

Add drama

Don’t be afraid of the dark―dark paint, that is. An accent wall in black (as shown here in G&R Paint Co.’s Black Bear PPC-DT9), navy, or chocolate brown serves as a stunning backdrop for light-colored furnishings and picture frames.
