Birds & birds
People who have read my blog for a little while know how much I love birds. I love watching them, feeding them, but I do not like them caged....I take pictures of them, when I happen to see them and occasionally I come across things, which have a bird theme. Nice ones. Delightful fabrics are sometimes among them, or wallpapers, ceramics, jewelry.
Birds are a timeless inspiration, symbol of freedom, beauty and and song.
Yesterday I heard this little guy long before I spotted him. So loud and clear a thrilling sound.
And this small owl found her way onto my dresser...
The old 19th Century Swedish duck illustrations were laminated and getting used as place mats in our household.

And last but not least: The tireless woodpecker across the street...

A bench makeover
Beginning with the bench belonging to our dining chair set I worked Sunday afternoon to re-upholster the old and ripped fabric.
I replaced it with a wonderful fabric I found at my local fabric store. Having only to spend the money for 3/4 of a yard, the project cost me $35.00. Not counting the staples... And it took about 1 hour from start to finish.
The bench looked before pretty much like the chair and has been waiting for the right moment in the attic to be brought back to life.
All I needed was a staple gun with 3/4'' staples, scissors and a hammer to reinforce the staples a bit.
Notice the apple pie which my husband served to sustain me...
The green fabric hanging over the back of the bench will be used tomorrow to re-upholster all six dining chairs. Now I have confidence enough that it will work out, the bench was tricky, the fabric rather thick and not easy to stretch over the bench. My daughter was a great help.
I am really happy with the results...looking good with wallpaper and the curtains.
The chairs will hopefully be done by tomorrow.....

Schumacher Love (part 3)
Oh, how I am in love with this incredible Linwood raffia damask in seagrass from Schumacher. Place mats, yes please! Or, how would it look on a french chair back with exposed frayed edges and nail head trim?

Schumacher's Chiang Mai Dragon in Alabaster is not a new introduction, but it's definitely a favorite among designers. The rich colors of coral, purple, teal, vibrant greens and saffron are fresh and happy. What do you think about it on this lumbar pillow? It doesn't really matter to me how this fabric is used, I would love it anywhere and in any colorway!
Or for drapery? I love how this fabric shows off a whole other side when casually pleated with the sunlight filtering through the linen.
